2021 Bond Investments for Students District-Wide
The 2021 Bond will provide district-wide improvements to address identified and ongoing school infrastructure projects based on facility assessments and community input.
PROPOSAL BACKGROUND
A 45-member bond Steering Committee was commissioned by the Clawson Board of Education to prepare this zero mill proposal recommendation. The group included parents, business owners, school teachers, administrators, staff, students, city leaders and school board members. Working from September 2020 through February 2021, the committee
reviewed a survey of Clawson citizens, input from community forums, a facilities study, facilities consultant recommendations and enrollment projections. The Board of Education reviewed and voted unanimously to move forward with the recommendation on March 15, 2021.
HIGH SCHOOL
- 21st century classroom technology and furnishings, including middle/high school robotics and STEAM labs
- Trojan Hall collaboration and dining area
- Refresh choir, band and dressing room
- New instruments: elementary, middle and high school
- Multi-purpose gymnasium expansion
- Secure entrance, expanded parking lot and drop-off lane
- New cabinetry and refresh building exterior
- Replace aging mechanical and electrical with energy-efficient systems
MIDDLE SCHOOL
- New 2-story, 18-classroom building (28,800 s.f.)
- 21st century classroom technology and furnishings
- Secure entrances and corridor connecting middle school, elementary and high school
- Greenspace in courtyard for outdoor instruction
- Robotics and STEAM labs for middle school use in high school
- New energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Current Middle Schools)
- 30 completely renovated classrooms
- Private restrooms with age-appropriate fixtures in Kindergarten and 1st Grade rooms
- 21st century classroom technology and furnishings
- Secure entrance and safety upgrades
- STEAM lab, sensory and special education spaces
- Gymnasium expansion and playground upgrades
- Refresh of cabinetry and building exterior
- Replace aging mechanical and electrical with energy-efficient systems
EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER (Kenwood)
- 21st century classroom technology and furnishings
- New secure vestibule at entrances
- Dedicated gross motor skills development spaces and resources
- New cabinetry and refresh building exterior
- Replace aging mechanical and electrical with energy-efficient systems
